Babe Ruth Rules

By: Jim Butler

I'm not positive, but I don't think Babe Ruth has a "standard" set of rules. In Arlington, VA, the rules typically incorporate the official baseball rules, except as otherwise noted. Then the league provides different deviations from the rules depending on the level of the league. Some of the rule variations used are as follows:

+ AAA. Unlimited substitutions and all players in batting order. No leading off. 46' pitcher's rubber. 5 innings or 1 hour 45 minute games. 10 run rule. Pitchers limited to three innings per game, but can pitch every game; 1 pitch in an inning counts as an inning.

+ AA. Pitching machine. No stealing. Continuous batting order and unlimited substitutions. Scores and standings maintained. 5 inning or 1 hour 30 minute games. 10 run rule.

+ Single A. A noncompetitive league; NO score is kept. Pitching machine. No stealing. Continuous batting order and unlimited substitutions. 5 inning or 1 hour 30 minute games.
