LL Farm(7&8) rule question.
By: Jerry Hart: 2: Ball is thrown back into the pitching circle and is controlled by a player in the circle. (LL district tournaments also use this rule, I've been told).
***How can this be? The youngest age group in LL District, Section, State and Regional Tournaments is the Minor(9 & 10 y/o) Tournament teams. The kids pitch, not a pitching machine, at this age.
: This spring our board wants to eliminate rule 2. Thus, play only stops with stopping the advancement of the lead runner. Their argument is this is more like real baseball...
***I agree with your board.
: I looking for opions on this, and the type of rules other LL associations use for this age group.
***My league stops the runners from advancing when the ball reaches the infield(defined by the basepaths) for Tee Ballers but not coach or machine pitch.
: We do impose a 4 run or 3 out limit for the first 5 inninings, with the 6 inining being unlimited runs or 3 outs.
***I prefer for each team to bat through its order(starters and substitutes) each inning or 3 outs. If one team has more players present than the other, each team gets the same number of at bats per inning.
