Second Basemen Poll
By: UWE I will not tell you of my opinion.
Jackie Robinson: An outstanding hustler as well as fielder, lacked the power and average of others.
Rogers Hornsby: .356 batting average, second all time, as well as a power hitter. His intensity and will to win got him far. Although his fielding would've made him a DH had it not been for the rule.
Joe Morgan: Speedy player, but had a good team to support him.
Napoleon Lajoie: Fast, Fielder, Average Hitter, but no so much power. He also wasn't as intense.
Nellie Fox: Definitely not the best, but a strong contender. His double play duo with Luis Aparicio might have been more Aparicio than Fox, but his hitting was good as well.
Eddie Collins: Obviously the best fielding of all of them, and a good average hitter as well, had the speed to outrun Rogers Hornsby and many others.
Ryne Sandberg: More of a power second baseman, but also had fielding strength.
Other: I'd pick Bill Mazeroski. His fielding was a great adition to the 1960's World Series Pirates (which Mazeroski won thanks to his walk-off home run).
I'd include myself, but I'm not in the HOF yet.
