Going to Williamsport?
By: FloydI remember posting last year about our AS major team that I thought had a chance to at least get to the west regionals.
Pitcher 1 - 5'11", mid 70's cruising, great CU
Pitcher 2 - 6'1", low 70's, CU, great control
Pitcher 3 - 5'8", upper 60's, big curve, CU
Pitcher 4 - 6', mid 70,s
Catcher - 6'1", stopper, no one steals
The rest were all 12 year olds. The majority played summer ball and/or travel/tourney ball. Studs top to bottom. We had a CF that was small but amazingly fast. He was a lefty with a reg season OB% in the .800's. I could go on and on.
I thought we were industructable and I was wrong. I forgot about the LUCK factor.
Loss #1 - We were 1 out from a ten run when the rains came and the umps wouldn't stop or delay the game. We found out that we couldn't play in the mud.
Loss #2 - Our ace vs. their ace. Classic pitchers duel. We left four runners stranded on third. Our ace has a no hitter going into the bottom of the 6th, they couldn't touch this kid. Two outs to a win and their number 8 hitter swings as had as he can to a pitch that is head high and outside. I thought I saw this kid with his eyes closed when he swung.
He hits a walk off home run to send us packing.
Don't forget lady luck needs to be on your side.
