Size issue revisited--SK

Paul, the truth is that your son is 16 yrs old and is getting looked at by a major league scout(s). Don't sell your son short(no pun). Just about all 16's hit below major league specs. If he is on or above the level of a major leaguer in other catagories at his age he is doing something right and his size shouldn't come in to play. I played against Mark Lemke many times in high school and in legion and yes he worked hard. He also played basketball and was a standout there as well(5'9 is pushing it, maybe 5'7 1/2 or 5'8). Then there were other guys I knew, much bigger, worked just as hard and didn't pan out. Mark was a 28th round draft choice(I think), so the odds were against him making it. He was a very good minor league player and an outstanding infielder. No one can turn a double play like Mark. My point is that just because he was small it didn't deter him. He made it because he was good enough. Size had nothing to do with his ability. I agree that the bigger players usually have the upper hand but, if you're good enough, you can make no matter how big you are.
